CMHA-PEI Housing Programs
CMHA's Housing Outreach Program aims to support individuals to secure and maintain independent living. Staff provide support for individuals experiencing mental health and addictions issues, and who face other barriers to stable housing. More information is available by calling (902) 628-3662.
Housing First is a federally funded recovery-oriented approach to ending homelessness. The program centers on quickly moving people experiencing chronic homelessness into independent and permanent housing within the community. Self referrals are welcome by calling either the Charlottetown Office at (902) 628-3663 or the Summerside Office at 902-436-2209.
Government of Prince Edward Island Programs
Temporary Rental Assistance Benefit will provide temporary rental assistance to renters who are struggling to pay their rent as a result of income loss or reduction due to COVID19 measures. Eligible tenants will have the benefit paid directly to their landlord, benefiting both the landlord and the tenant. The benefit is $1,000/household to help cover the costs for a three month period in allotments of $500, $250 and $250.
The Prince Edward Island Housing Corporation has placed a moratorium on evictions from provincially-owned social housing units until June 2020.
